Graham Cracker Toffee

20111218-172909.jpgOne of the great (and terrible) things about the holidays are all the amazing sweets and treats that seem to show up non-stop. It’s a time of year to indulge and enjoy and to make your loved ones feel, well, loved. As I’ve stated before I’m not the best baker – I don’t have the good baker juju, what can you do? So a few years ago I tried my hand at candy making. Fudge, caramels, peanut brittle- so much fun to make and even more fun to hand out. This recipe is an easy intro to homemade candy, and is so very delicious.20111218-155738.jpg{line a buttered cookie sheet with graham crackers}20111218-155920.jpg{melt equal parts sugar and butter to make caramel}20111218-160250.jpg{cover crackers with caramel and bake for 10 minutes, until caramel is bubbly}20111218-160441.jpg20111218-160533.jpg{melt some good chocolate and drizzle over toffee}20111218-160633.jpg20111218-160716.jpg{chop toasted almonds and sprinkle on top}

For this recipe I used:

  • 1 (2 packages) box of graham crackers
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup of golden brown sugar
  • 1 12 oz. bag of milk chocolate chips
  • 1 fistful of toasted almonds (or use any nut you prefer)

  1. This is really interesting and sounds yummy. I’ve totally noticed how many more sweet things there are on wordpress at the moment.

  2. as one of your loved ones who was lucky enough to be on the receiving end of your efforts, I can tell you it was beyond delicious! I just wish it would have lasted until Christmas. Oh well, care to make more??
